Female students of the Faculties of Science, Theology, and Arts brewed a special pink beer – BrewHer – at the Experimental Brewery of Palacký University (EUREKA). They did so to join the international Pink Boots Collaboration Brew Day initiative, which supports women’s education in brewing. The West Coast IPA-style beer will be available for free tasting on 16 April 2025 to mark the 10th anniversary of UPoint, Palacký University’s information centre and shop.
“BrewHer beer, brewed using the SMaSH (Single Malt and Single Hop) method, uses only Pilsner malt, which gives the drink a very light colour. The characteristic aroma comes from the unique Pink Boots Blend of hops, combining Simcoe®, Mosaic®, Chinook, and HBC 586 (Krush™) varieties. This blend gives the beer a fresh aroma of grapefruit, tropical citrus, berries, and resin,” said the brewery’s founder, Lukáš Kučera from the Department of Analytical Chemistry.
Barbora Přibylová, Natálie Vavřinová, Elena Kučerová, Lucie Staňková, Kateřina Erbenová, Pavla Králíčková, and Patricie Nejedlá from the Faculty of Science participated in the production of the beer. Radka Novotná from the Faculty of Theology and Anna Hendrychová from the Faculty of Arts also contributed. “In addition to its taste, the special BrewHer beer can also impress with its unique appearance thanks to the beetroot extract, which gives the beer its pink colour. The beer’s parameters are 13°, 40 IBU bitterness, and dry hopping with the addition of 200 g hops,” added Přibylová.
Pink Boots Collaboration Brew Day is an international project of the non-profit organisation Pink Boots Society, which was founded in 2017 in the USA with the aim of supporting women in brewing and other fermentation industries.
